Day 1,Airport-Basel-Bergun
Travel at day taking the train from your first airport. We take the direct ICE train to Basel. Then change at Chur and with the Rhätische Bahn to the beautiful place Bergün (1367m). This is an authentic village with stately village houses and lively farms. Well-known Heidi films have been shot here. We stay in Bergun for the next few days. our accommodation will be Hotel Albula *** near the station.
Day 2,Explore Bergun
The next few days we stay in Bergun. Bergun is an ideal place to make walks and to explore this swiss village in your own style. Today you have a day for yourself to get adjusted to the altititude and the Swiss weather. An idea to to visit today: the Bahn museum in Bergun opened in 2012 is a very creative attraction with wonderful stories and many "do-activities".
Day 3,Bergun-Preda
Today you have the chance to take a combined train & walking excursion. You can take the Bahnlehrpfad Preda - Bergün excursion which is approx. 2 hours.
During this excursion you take the train to Preda and walk along the railway with great views of viaducts and return tunnels. Information boards have been set up at the most beautiful viewpoints with the times of the passing trains.
Day 4,Bergun-Filisur
Another opportunity to take a classical excursion with the train and hiking. We visit the Landwasser viaduct: Take the return train to Filisur. In Filisur walk to the viewpoint Landwasser viaduct in about 30 minutes, the most photographed viaduct in Switzerland, where the trains disappear through a bend in a tunnel through a high rock wall.
Day 5,Bergun-Ospizio
Another new day has dawned for another adventure. Today we do the Bernina hike: From Bergün go by train to the highest point of the Bernina railway to Ospizio. Bernina is located at 2253m between the glaciers and on the Lago Bianco. Easy and beautiful hike in 1.5 hours from Bernina to Alp Grüm is our end point: with a view of the Poschiavo valley, you will have a wonderful memory once you come back.
Day 6,Bergun-Bern-Airport
Today is the last day in the holiday. After breakfast we take the train back via Davos and Landquart to Basel station. Thereafter we take the speed train back to your next destination or otherwise directly to your departing airport in Europe. End of a memorable Switzerland holiday full of Swiss train rides.
